My name, is Ryuu, and I go to Berk Academy where I am learning to become a dragon rider. It isn't easy. We have to go through trails to test whether or not we are ready to ride a dragon let alone bond with one. If a dragon deems you unworthy, you die. Many have lost their lives because they tried to force a bond with a dragon or two.
Never force a dragon to bond with you. That is the number one rule of the academy and you can't leave until you are bonded, or dead. Some die before making it past the first week because we have to, well, walk a bridge called Death's Walk. At least twenty students die walking it each year.
No one knows the name of our enemies, or even what they are. Some call them demons, others call them monsters. They all have moon silver hair, red eyes like freshly spilled blood and marks like tattoos of vines snaking around on their sun-kissed skin.
I'm an orphan, so unlike everyone else, I have nothing to lose except my life. That is, until I meet him, my enemy who makes me question everything I have ever known to be true after being kidnapped. All of this happens in my first year at the academy and I'm left wondering what is real, and what is fake.
