Ahulani is the second daughter to King Haku of the Kalama Merfolk Kingdom. Vlad is the only son of powerful King Dorian and Queen Victoria of the Moonlight Vampire Kingdom. They go to Darkwood High School where they find out they are mates, but are cursed.
Ahulani becomes a cheerleader not knowing that Vlad is the football team’s lead athlete with other girls pining for him. He never pays any attention to them though, which makes them jealous of Ahulani who gets all his attention.
In order to break the curse, Vlad must change his ways and protect his beloved mate. If he doesn’t, they lose everything and are bound to a dark place they will never get out of.
Ahulani must help him change his bad boy ways, to not only protect her kingdom, but his as well. She finds it hard to help him since he doesn’t like being told what to do and he bullies her. She doesn’t back down or let him have his fun when he does bully her. Her confidence makes him waver and he finds himself falling in love with her.
He knows he can’t have her until the curse is broken, but he refuses to admit his growing feelings for the young mermaid princess. As for her? She tries her best to hide her feelings for him but fails when he starts to open up to her.
