"Clara, say you love me. I'll believe it as long as you say it."
Adrian Blackwell's eyes were bloodshot, staring at her intently.
"Mr. Blackwell."
"Call me honey."
Clara looked at him, her eyes no longer filled with the love they once held.
"Mr. Blackwell."
"Weren't we just putting on a show?"
Adrian Blackwell's expression turned icy cold. "Clara, you clearly loved me so much. These past five years you've gone to such lengths to please me, you..."
Clara decided to stop acting.
"Mr. Blackwell, I've put on quite a performance these five years, haven't I?"
The man's hand pressed against her waist, pulling her into his embrace.
But his voice was dangerous. "What performance?"
"Back then, Ashford Group's capital chain broke with a fifty billion shortfall. Grandma found me and said as long as I agreed to pursue you, like you, adore you, and marry you, she would help the Ashford family through the crisis."
"I agreed."
The hand on her waist suddenly tightened. Despite knowing the truth, the man refused to believe it.
His hand caressed the corner of her eye. "Clara, you're lying to me, right?"
Clara pushed him away. "Mr. Blackwell, wasn't it you who told me to know my place and not fall in love with you?"
"Now everything is exactly as you wished." Clara took out the divorce agreement and slapped it into his hand. "Let's get this divorce over with quickly—everyone wins."
"Sign soon, Mr. Blackwell. Don't delay me finding my next man."
When the man saw the words "divorce agreement," the redness at the corners of his eyes intensified. He tore the document to shreds in an instant.
His brows were sinister and dark. "Clara , your man can only be me. You entice one man and I'll cripple one."
