The first thing Abigail Reyes noticed was the laughter.
Deep, careless male laughter echoed through the hallway as she dragged her suitcase toward West Hall, the dormitory she had been assigned after winning a full scholarship to St. Augustine’s Elite Academy.
She frowned.
This had to be a mistake.
Boys stood outside the rooms, tossing footballs, arguing, laughing, and barely sparing her a glance. She checked the number on the paper in her trembling hand, then looked at the door in front of her.
Room 102.
Her room.
With unsteady fingers, she pushed the door open.
The room was dimly lit.
A tall boy stood by the window, his back turned to her, dressed in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled to his forearms. He didn’t look surprised to see her.
He looked… irritated.
When he finally turned around, his cold gray eyes met hers, and the silence between them felt heavier than the walls around them.
“You’re in the wrong room,” he said.
“No,” Abigail whispered, holding up the assignment slip. “This is my room.”
His gaze dropped to the paper, then back to her.
For the first time, something unreadable flickered across his face.
Neither of them knew it then.
The girl who had entered the wrong dorm…
and the boy who had spent years keeping everyone out…
were about to become the biggest scandal at St. Augustine’s.
Some mistakes are meant to be corrected.
This one was meant to change their lives.
